VastPark, Worlds Collide. Sounds interesting already doesn't it? Today when I received an email stating that the first wave of new users will be given access to the beta tools shortly, I was very excited.
Described by VastPark as "a virtual content platform featuring free tools, revolutionary distributed content syndication and enables you to deploy your own virtual world or online game within seconds royalty free", the Worlds Collide beta has my interest more than peaked. Once you create your world (called a site) you can publish it to be connected to other sites in VastPark allowing people to come and pay a visit. You can import existing objects from popular 3D modelers such as 3ds Max and Maya or you can use the VastPark creator tool. The VastPark Browser, Creator and Basic Account are free allowing for 10 MB storage online and 20 MB bandwidth. $19 for two years will get you a Pro Creator Account that allows for 1 GB storage online and 1 GB bandwidth per month. Is this the Casual Games/3D Internet/Web 2.0/Virtual World mashup everyone has been waiting for? It appears to be a major step in that direction but only time will tell. |
